Stone head in Durrow Demesne stands above the west doorway of a rebuilt church in the heart of an old graveyard. The building dates from the late 1700s, yet it may occupy a medieval Christian site, suggesting the head has watched burial and worship for generations. Its placement is not decorative accident; it marks the threshold where the living enter and the dead remain.

National Monument No. 313. In the centre of Durrow graveyard (OF009-005009-), a late 18th century church possibly built on the site of a medieval church (OF009-005013-) which according to Davies (ITA Survey 1942) was mainly rebuilt in 1802. The stone head is incorporated into the external face of the W gable of the church above the doorway. The church has been recently conserved by the OPW and now houses the Durrow high cross (OF009-005010-) and some of the cross-slabs (OF009-005015-/020-) that were located in the surrounding graveyard (OF009-005009-).
