What is recorded here

Five stones stand incomplete on a bog slope above the Commeenatrush River, their missing western gap pointing deliberately toward the valley rather than suffering decay. The remaining orthostats form a shallow chamber aligned north-northeast, large enough for a handful of people to gather inside while excluding the wet wind. Their smooth, vertical faces suggest human hands arranged them for ceremony or observation, not random river tumbling. The absence becomes the entrance, inviting imagination into what the circle excluded or revealed.

In cut-away bog, on SE-facing slope of saddle to SW of Claragh Mountain overlooking Commeenatrush River valley. Circle incomplete; W entrance and side stone missing. Orthostats are 0.95m to 1.45m L, 0.17m to 0.22m T and 0.55m to 0.70m H. Internal measurement along main axis, aligned NNE-SSW, is 3.4m. Likely dating to the Neolithic or Early Bronze Age, this five-stone circle may have had ceremonial or astronomical significance, common to such sites in the region. The incomplete circle and missing stones suggest possible disturbance or intentional modification over time.
