Stone Alignment

In level pasture, on crest of broad ridge in headwaters of Owenkeal River. Row of four stones, aligned NE-SW, 7.4m in overall length. Three stones knocked in early 1990s; only SW stone standing with remainder piled at NE base. NE stone was 0.55m L, 0.35m T and 0.3m H. Second stone, 1m to SW, was 0.6m L, 0.4m T and 0.4m H. Third stone, 0.9m from last, was 0.6m L, 0.3m T and 0.55m H. Fourth stone, 2.4m further to SW, is 1.3m L, 0.7m T and 1.3m H. Likely dating to the Neolithic or Bronze Age, this stone alignment may have had ceremonial or astronomical significance. Its partial destruction and reconfiguration suggest later disturbance, though its original use may have been related to ritual or territorial marking.
