Standing stone (present location) in Cahergarriff

Standing stone (present location)

What is recorded here

Cahergarriff holds a fallen giant, not a proud one. The stone lies embedded in a field boundary, waiting for someone to remember the field called Páirc a' Ghalláin and the shape it once kept.
In pasture, on a N-facing slope with views of Miskish Mountain. This prostrate stone (0.6m x 0.4m; L 1.8m) is incorporated into the base of a stone field boundary. According to local information, its original location (CO127-067----) was in a field known as 'Páirc a' Ghalláin'. Its precise location in the field is not known. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 5' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2009). Date of upload: 22 December 2009
