No Irish or English source records the stone’s purpose or age. It stands in Ráth Muireagáin, County Mayo, not as a claimed monument but as an unfinished fact. A person may have set it, forgotten it or lost the reason for setting it. The hole, shadow and surrounding land still answer that absent intention.
