Standing stone in Newtown OR Skirk

Standing stone

What is recorded here

No visible marker remains, but Carrigan recorded two smaller pillar stones beyond the enclosure in Newtown OR Skirk. They may have been burial markers, boundary markers or simply stones large enough to notice. Whatever they marked, that meaning has thinned out, leaving only the shape of a lost distinction.
Unlocated standing stone within townland, described by Carrigan as 'Two other pillar stones, but smaller, are pointed out a short distance beyond the enclosure (LA021-021001-)' (Carrigan 1905, vol. 2, 136). Compiled by: Caimin O'Brien Date of upload: 17 December 2007

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
