Enclosure in Newtown OR Skirk

In an upland area. The S portion of an enclosure (C. c. 35m E-SW) marked on the 1909 edition of the OS 6-inch map is defined by a low bank (Wth c. 1.7m, int. H c. 0.7m, ext. H c. 0.6m) from E to SW. No evidence of fosse or original entrance. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Laois' (Dublin Stationery Office, 1995) compiled by P.
