Standing stone in Meens (duhallow By., Kilmeen Par.)

Standing stone

What is recorded here

Standing stone in Meens (duhallow By., Kilmeen Par.) stands in County Cork, Ireland. The exact location is no longer known, but the lost stone may have marked a boundary, a memory or a place where people gathered. Its disappearance does not erase it; it invites imagination to complete what measurement stopped short of.
Bowman (1934, 457) recorded standing stone on J. Browne's land, '...5ft 1in by 4ft 6in by 2ft 7in'. Exact location not known. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 4: North Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2000). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 14 January 2009

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
