What is recorded here

Mahanagh once held four dallans, including a tall oval stone nearly thirteen feet around that still stands remembered though no longer visible. People may have circled it, marked it, or left it alone because it was already strange. Its removal did not erase it; it shifted the story from sight to memory.

This is one of four 'dallans' (CO016-242----, CO016-243----, CO016-245----) recorded by Bowman (2000, 181) in 'Mr. O'Reilly's' in Mahanagh townland. Bowman (ibid.) describes this stone as '(c) 500 yards [457m] (c). South of (a). 2' [0.6m] high, 13' 3" [4.03m] in girth'. The location of this stone was pointed out by the present landowner. The stone was removed from this location in recent times. It may be one of two stones now lying in the SE corner of the field.
