Standing stone in Kiltalown

Standing stone

What is recorded here

That is the kind of story being told. Kiltalown gives it shape, while the chamber and chamber chamber give it life. The idea is a living chamber, not a hidden chamber.
Situated in a field due S of Kiltalown House. This standing stone (Wth 0.48m; H 1.05m) is a squat, irregularly shaped block of granite with some quartz banding. It has been set up on its broad end, narrowing towards the top and is orientated roughly N-S towards Tallaght Hill. In October 1996 the stone was knocked over. It became apparent that it had been sitting on its flat base with no evidence for a socket (Swan 1998, 57).

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
