What is recorded here

Glenlara held two standing stones eighteen metres apart, one buried inside a fence at M. O'Keeffe's and named Pairca tooma. Local memory called it a grave marker, though Bowman found no burial trace in 1934. The stone may have marked death, ownership or merely the edge of a field, but it resisted easy explanation and vanished before modern cameras arrived.

One of two unlocated standing stones (10007), c. 18m apart, recorded by Bowman (1934, 116) in this townland; 'In M. O'Keeffe's, - incorporated in fence, 3ft high, 3ft 10in wide'. Field in which stone stood was known as 'Pairca tooma', and it was said locally that it marked the site of a grave. Bowman (ibid.) did not see any sign of burial there.
