What is recorded here

In a level pasture field, on a terrace on a S-facing slope overlooking Blackball Head to the SW. This standing stone (0.72m x 0.5m; H 0.95m) is roughly rectangular in plan and is orientated N-S. The upper half of the stone narrows gradually to the top. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 5' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2009). Date of upload: 22 December 2009
Dated to the Late Neolithic or Early Bronze Age, this standing stone may have functioned as a territorial marker or had ceremonial significance. No specific folklore or inscriptions are recorded, though its orientation and location suggest a possible alignment with solar or landscape features.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
