Clogh may take its name from the narrow standing stone still rising in low-lying pasture, a tall irregular marker aligned north to south. Briars once strangled it, but the field has given the stone back, leaving it exposed under the wide sky. People may have passed it for generations, reading direction, boundary or warning in its shape.

In hilly low-lying pasture. This narrow, irregularly shaped stone (H 1.25m; Wth 0.55m; T 0.35m) is aligned c. N-S. When visited in 2004 it was covered in briars and brambles (SMR file) but it is now clear of scrub. According to the landowner, the townland name may be derived from this standing stone.
