What is recorded here

Broker recorded two stones in Claragh Beg before the quarry took them, one standing five or six feet high and the other lying two hundred yards away. The second has vanished entirely, leaving behind a broken landscape where human memory once marked the earth. What remains is absence itself, a reminder that even stone can be erased when people stop protecting it.

This standing stone is referred to in the 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork - vol. 3 Mid-Cork' (1997, 41) under the entry (no. 6636) for a neighbouring standing stone (CO038-065----). The entry reads as follows: 'Removed. Disused quarry now occupies site. According to Broker (1937, 30) there were two stones [CO038-065----, CO038-090----] in this townland; one '5 or 6 feet high'; another '200 yds off in next field....It has been destroyed'. Exact location of second stone (CO038-090----) not known. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
