Caherelly West: A standing stone in lush pasture, not a chamber or cache. It stands 1.2m tall, 0.9m wide, 0.5m thick, tilted ENE-WSW on a south-facing slope. Its irregular edges suggest human shaping rather than glacial smoothing. People may have marked this spot for direction, boundary, memory or warning. The stone still performs that function: it stops movement, forces attention, and gives the landscape a point of recognition.
