Bohonagh holds a three-metre standing stone beside a field fence, pulling ancient attention across the pasture toward Rosscarbery. The stone may have marked a boundary, a burial or a warning, yet people still moved it into a fence as if ancient weight could be reduced to useful lumber. Its long shadow falls across ordinary grass, suggesting that memory and ownership still compete in West Cork.

Dated to the Late Neolithic or Early Bronze Age, this standing stone may have had ritual or territorial significance. It is part of the Bohonagh stone circle complex, which includes a cairn and other megalithic monuments, suggesting a ceremonial landscape linked to burial or astronomical practices.
