What is recorded here

Bohonagh holds a man-made passage hidden inside its ringfort, waiting for boots loud enough to break the quiet. Men traced five metres in the 1940s before the earth took the tunnel back, erasing the very place they had walked. The field above still looks empty, but emptiness is not the same as nothing; it is only a room that has stopped answering.
In ringfort (CO134-074001-). Passage discovered 1940s, traced for 5m, collapsed (UCC). No visible surface trace. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 1: West Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1992). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 14 January 2009

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
