What is recorded here

Nine feet two inches of girth still stands in Ballyhoolahan Middle, recorded by Bowman in 1934 inside J. O'Connor's land. The stone may have marked a boundary, a burial or a meeting place, yet human memory has narrowed its purpose to a single address. Distance and forgetting have blurred the exact spot, but the measurements preserve its body. What is lost is not the stone but the reason it was chosen.
