St. Patrick’s Well, Forgney is traditionally associated with St. Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland, and like many wells of this name, it was likely a site of pilgrimage and healing. Such wells were often believed to have curative properties, particularly for ailments of the eyes and general ill health, and were visited with rituals involving prayer, water collection, and sometimes leaving offerings.
