Drimnagh CastleWalled garden · 212 ydExplorer Tom Drimnagh Castle’s walled garden is a 1900s rectangle of limestone walls trying to look like a seventeenth-century parterre after a 1990 remodel. It’s got formal planting that looks like it’s trying too hard to be fancy. The rubble calp stones are just sitting there looking dusty and unimpressed with the modern makeover.
Children's playground383 ydTom: I’m here to help · Computer-made picture. It does not show this playground.Explorer Tom This Children's playground in County Dublin has no history, so I'm saying it was built by giants. Look for handprints on the fence for me!
Explorer Tom Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Mary is a red brick church from 1954. Flat roofs and all that! It’s a bit different from your usual spirey places. I bet the acoustics are fantastic for gossiping in the back row.
Lansdowne HouseHouse · 486 ydExplorer Tom Lansdowne House in County Dublin was built by its owner himself back in 1952. It’s a mid-century gem with a flat roof and weird corner windows. Jack Moran was clearly a bit of a show-off!
Church (in ruins)Graveyard · 688 ydTom: I’m here to help · Computer-made picture. It does not show this monument.Explorer Tom Church. This graveyard has a stream running along its bottom edge, which feels like an unusual boundary for the dead. It was in use as early as 1547, so that water has been flowing past graves for ages.
Holy Well853 ydTom: I’m here to help · Computer-made picture. It does not show this holy well.Explorer Tom Holy Well in County Dublin was once on a green, now it’s basically a ghost story. If it were a person, it would be the uncle who brings wine to every wedding. Pretend it's yours and plan the housewarming.
kindergarden playgroundChildren's playground · 1470 ydTom: I’m here to help · Computer-made picture. It does not show this playground.Explorer Tom Kindergarden playground in County Dublin is locked away like a state secret. I bet they’re growing tiny humans inside who never age. If you spot a gate, maybe wave at the mysterious occupants?
Executions of the leaders of the 1916 risingMemorial · 1.6 miExplorer Tom Executions of the leaders of the 1916 rising is pointing at Kilmainham Gaol like it’s blaming the building for everything. Fourteen guys got the axe, but this spot just wants you to feel dramatic about the whole bloody affair.
Éamonn CeanntMemorial · 1.8 miExplorer Tom Éamonn Ceannt in County Dublin led the Easter Rising and got executed at Kilmainham. A heavy hitter for a memorial spot. Give him some respect if you pass by his marker today.
Explorer Tom Magazine Fort in County Dublin is named after storing stuff, probably gunpowder or something equally explosive. It's sitting there looking solid, so maybe don't bring matches just to be safe, yeah?
Horse-chestnut2.2 miExplorer Tom Horse-chestnut in County Dublin is waiting for a cow that tried to buy it with a milk ticket last Tuesday. The cow left without paying and the tree is still fuming about the audacity of the whole situation. It's the kind of place that makes a dull Tuesday interesting, trust me.
Silver maple2.3 miExplorer Tom Silver maple in County Dublin is just a tree, but it looks like it's judging your life choices from its high perch. Bring wellies and low expectations, leave delighted because the leaves are doing something fancy with the wind.
