Kilmurry Chapel stood cruciform beside its graveyard until men threw it down and carried the stones across the parish boundary to rebuild it at Ballyvorneen. That brutal relocation erased the old site but continued the chapel's life elsewhere, turning destruction into movement rather than forgetting. The absent walls still belong to the community because they were not discarded; they were translated.

Site of cruciform R. C. Chapel of post medieval date depicted on the 1838 ed. OS 6-inch map where it is shown standing outside the graveyard immediately to the S. No surface remains visible of this levelled church known locally as 'Kilmurry Chapel'. In 1840 the Ordnance Survey Field Name Books recorded the following; 'This chapel was thrown down and removed to the S. corner of Ballyvorneen, at the parish boundary of Ballybrood, where it was rebuilt' (OSNB).
