Sgaoth Ìosal rises to approximately 400 metres and is part of the rugged landscape of the Outer Hebrides. Its name, meaning "the wind of the isle," reflects local Gaelic traditions that often personify natural features. The mountain contributes to the geographical and cultural identity of the islands.
