Settlement deserted is a settlement deserted, medieval in Ballygalda OR Trust, County Roscommon, Ireland. Ardcarn settlement shows eighty acres of medieval fields, three hollow ways, two cashels and three house-sites beside the N4. The boundaries still appear as low grassy banks and collapsed stone walls, while one road ran eight hundred metres from a nearby rath. Archaeological testing before the road widening found no datable remains, leaving the shape of the land as the main record.

There is a reference to a late 16th century settlement at Ballygalda (Loeber 1991, map). It was not encountered. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 24 August 2010
