Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Scathros as Motor Fishing Vessel (period Unassigned)-(2005). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

The *Scathros* was a motor fishing vessel built in the early 20th century and active in Scottish coastal waters. It was lost in 1940 during the Second World War, wrecked on rocks near Orkney while en route to a fishing ground; no lives were lost, but the vessel and its cargo of fishing gear and provisions were lost, marking it as a wartime example of the vulnerability of small fishing craft to navigation hazards.
