What is recorded here
Snecked sandstone boundary walls to cemetery, erected in 1886, with ashlar limestone piers having moulded plinths and cornices and decoratively-carved pyramidal limestone caps with finials, decorative cast-iron gates and railings and limestone wheelguard.
The high quality masonry and the decorative work to the caps distinguishes this cemetery gateway on a prominent site on the Waterford Road into Clonmel. The cast-iron gates and railings exhibit acomplished metal craftsmanship. The gateway is part of an architecturally- and artistically-significant group of structures associated with Saint Patrick's Cemetery.
