Cast-iron railings, gates and piers, c.1870, with plinths to railings, and terminated by limestone piers. Comprising of pair of square-profile cast-iron piers, with pair of cast-iron gates, flanked by cast-iron railings.
These fine gates, railings and piers are a notable contributor to the streetscape in Slane. They form part of an interesting group of related structures with the church and belfry. Cast by Sheridan of Dublin, skilled craftsmen clearly executed these cast-iron gates, railings and piers, which are of apparent artistic design.
