Rubha Chlaidh is a headland composed primarily of basaltic rock, formed during the Palaeogene period through volcanic activity associated with the North Atlantic Igneous Province. Its notable columnar jointing and coastal erosion features make it a distinctive example of ancient volcanic terrain in the Western Isles.
