Beinn Sgritheann rises to approximately 666 metres and is part of the rugged landscape of the Outer Hebrides. It is composed primarily of Lewisian gneiss, some of the oldest rock formations in the British Isles. The mountain contributes to the geographical and geological character of the region, reflecting the ancient and dynamic history of the Hebridean terrain.
