Roughan Fairy Fort has vanished from good Donegal grazing land, leaving no trace of the circular fort marked on old surveys. The earth swallowed the stones or the farm work scraped them away, perhaps after people stopped fearing the fairies who supposedly owned the ring. What remains is a clean field where a boundary disappeared, reminding us that some local histories are still being invented.

There is no trace of the single-ringed circular 'Fort' shown on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map. It was situated on good grazing land.
