What is recorded here

Gateway, extant 1837, on a symmetrical plan comprising pair of granite ashlar chamfered piers on cut-granite chamfered plinths having inscribed cut-granite stringcourses below shallow pyramidal capping supporting spear head-detailed cast-iron double gates with granite ashlar chamfered outer piers on cut-granite chamfered plinths having cut-granite stringcourses below shallow pyramidal capping. Road fronted at entrance to grounds of Rockford.
A gateway forming part of a self-contained group alongside an adjacent gate lodge (see 60230119) with the resulting ensemble making a pleasing visual statement in Stradbrook Road at a long obsolete entrance on to the grounds of the Rockford estate.

This does not grant access. Most recorded buildings are privately owned; view them only from public ground unless the owner allows entry.
