Rock art (present location)

What is recorded here

Described by Kinahan (1884, 228 (stone H)) as 'a large solid block of granite. It seems to have been cupped at one time; but the surface has been so injured by fire that no distinct cups can now be made out.' The location indicated by Kinahan (1884, 224) was inspected by ASI in 1990, however this stone was not located. (See WI035-012004- for original location record). Likely dating to the Neolithic or Bronze Age, this rock art site may have been used for ritual or ceremonial purposes, as suggested by the presence of cup marks, which are commonly associated with symbolic or ritual activity in prehistoric contexts. The damage caused by fire may indicate a later human intervention, possibly linked to folklore or attempts to 'ward off' supernatural forces.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
