Castle in ruins, Stump OF THE Castle: a square tower house with four corner towers, reduced to a stump and wall fragments inside a garden. The SW tower still stood 7.44m high in 1838, its narrow 1.38m chamber no larger than a tall cupboard. The castle measured about 13.64m across, built to be seen and defended. Now it is a hidden stump, half-swallowed by soil and roots, waiting for someone to trace its lines and remember the shape it once kept.

Situated in the SE angle of a moated site (WI030-005001-). Described in the OS Letters (O'Flanagan 1928, 121-2) as a square castle (c. 13.64m x 13.64m) with four circular corner towers. The SW corner tower, with walls 0.85m thick, survived to a height of 7.44m in 1838 and was 1.38m in internal diameter. The tower house appears to have been c. 13.4m long. Parts of the tower and wall are visible in a garden. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Wicklow' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997).
