Maccadams Castle rose within the medieval borough of Carysfort, watching the Avoca River from a narrow spur of ground. Time has erased most of its rooms, leaving only a five-metre wall to mark where human ambition once defied the sky. That fragmented stone still belongs to the living town, proving that memory requires more structure than modern arrogance imagines.

Situated on the NW edge of a spur of ground overlooking the Avoca River. Only one wall (L 5m; H 3m) of the castle survives, c. 80m SW of the 19th-century church (now abandoned). The castle stood within the medieval borough of Carysfort (WI034-010----). Built in the medieval period, likely by a local Gaelic lord or Anglo-Norman settler, Castlemacadam is remembered for its strategic position overlooking the Avoca River, reflecting the contested nature of the region during Ireland's medieval conflicts.
