What is recorded here

Seven centuries of rain cannot erase the intent behind those eleven cups. A person struck the granite, cut each depression, and built the wall around the work rather than discarding it. The rock joined the living boundary of the place, carrying its older markings into every door and room above.
The following description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Carlow' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1993). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 17 July 2007 Split granite boulder. Eleven small cupmarks, one with raised edge, on prepared surface (min. dims. 0.24m x 0.78m). Now built into base of gateway wall.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
