Rock art in Knockbrack

Rock art

What is recorded here

Knockbrack holds a small granite boulder marked with a cup and faint ring, visible on a steep south-facing slope in County Carlow. The stones sit beside a disturbed field fence, exposing an old human gesture preserved against sky and grass. Perhaps someone struck that marker during a busy life, making a small claim on the landscape while others passed without stopping.
Within a disturbed section of a field fence on a relatively steep S facing slope with good views. A cup mark (diam. 5cm; D 1.5cm) surrounded by a faint ring (outer diam. 13cm) placed near one corner of a roughly triangular shaped granite boulder (0.66m x 0.7m).
