Dromavally Bog once held a decorated stone with three cup-and-circles and a larger saucer-like hollow, marking human presence at the eastern edge between the Owenascaul river and the mountain foot. Land reclamation broke the stone and removed most of it, leaving only a low undecorated stump where the markings disappeared. A pair of standing stones still waits about 150m east, guarding the memory of what the bog gave up and the valley still holds.
This stone was located on level ground at the E edge of Dromavally Bog which lies between the Owenascaul river to W and the foot of the mountain range to N. The decoration consisted of 3 cup-and-circles and a larger 'saucer-like hollow' (O'Connell 1939, 17). The stone was broken up and removed during land reclamation and only a low undecorated stump remains. A pair of standing stones are located c. 150m to E (KE044-027----).
The above description is derived from J. Cuppage, ‘Corca Dhuibhne. Dingle Peninsula archaeological survey. Ballyferriter. Oidhreacht Chorca Dhuibhne’ (1986), no. 181. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.

In very poorly drained (80m OD), rough, boggy pasture with forestry to N and S. Narrow view of Owenascaul River valley to WSW, between the two stands of coniferous forestry. Not seen. According to Cuppage (1986, 62), ‘This stone was located on level ground at the E edge of Dromavally Bog which lies between the Owenascaul river to W and the foot of the mountain range to N. The decoration consisted of 3 cup-and-circles and a larger 'saucer-like hollow' (O'Connell 1939, 17). The stone was broken up and removed during land reclamation and only a low undecorated stump remains. A pair of standing stones are located c. 150m to E (KE044-027----).’
