Rock art in Ballymoon

Rock art

What is recorded here

Ballymoon castle stands in County Carlow beside rock art that Tommy Clarke identified between the ruin and the road. The marks escaped discovery during a later inspection, suggesting they hide beneath grass, shadow or forgotten sight. They may still wait there, marking the land before human memory collapsed into certainty.
Rock art noted between Ballymoon castle (CW016-055001-) and the road (pers. comm. Tommy Clarke). Not located when inspected in September 2004. Compiled by: Claire Breen Date of upload: 13 January 2012

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
