Rock art in Ballinascorney Upper

Rock art

What is recorded here

Ballinascorney Upper in County Dublin once held a stone circle with three standing stones, two marked with cupmarks, but the monument has vanished from the land. Price recorded the site in 1940, capturing a fleeting glimpse of human hands shaping stone before the earth reclaimed the evidence. The loss transforms the place into a ghost story, inviting imagination to fill the gap where memory and rock disappeared together.
Situated to the S of Raheendhu (DU024-031----). Price (1940, 123) describes a stone circle with three standing stones E of it. Two of these stones had cupmarks on them. This monument has not been located. Compiled by: Geraldine Stout and Padraig Clancy Revised upload on: 7 July 2018
