What is recorded here
Situated on flat bogland. This site consisted of a trackway (L 15m; Wth 3-6.5m) formed by six clusters of roundwood and brushwood, orientated NW-SE which were intermittently deposited in areas where underfoot conditions dictated (Murray 1999, Derryfadda 204, 41-2). This trackway was dated to 2120-1755 BC (Ó Néill 2000, 176).
The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary. Vol. 1 - North Tipperary' compiled by Jean Farrelly and Caimin O'Brien (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2002). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
