What is recorded here

Located in a large arable field, on an alluvial terrace, c. 440m SSE of the W-E running Ward River. This field is on lands formerly associated with Irishtown House (demolished), which lay c. 195m to the WNW. Now within open field W of M2. Two ring-ditches are located in the vicinity; ring-ditch (DU010-001----) is located c. 400m to the NNW, and ring-ditch (DU010-001----) is located c. 420m to the NNE. There has been widespread levelling of field boundaries as shown on the Ordnance Survey maps. The site is best viewed on Google Earth Coverage of 7 May 2017. The feature appears as positive cropmarks comprising two roughly parallel ditches (each Wth c. 1.4m) that appear to define an ancient roadway. The ditches, c. 10m apart, are traceable for a distance of c. 340m running in WSW–ENE direction. Compiled by: Tom Condit Uploaded on: 22 April 2021
