What is recorded here
There is a local tradition that the Danes did some mining in the Derreen and Knockacullion area of Slieve Anierin, and there is still a place called 'The Dane's Hollow' with an ancient road hewn into the rocks, but it remains unlocated. (Clancy and Forde 1980, 133)
