Road

Road, class 3 togher

What is recorded here

Originally recorded as consisting of eight to ten roundwoods lying on top of smaller brushwood in a WSW drain face (Dunne 1999, 4, 99LBW0005A). Excavation revealed the togher (L 1.7m min.; exposed Wth 1.2m; T 0.45m) to be orientated NNE-SSE and constructed of longitudinal roundwood and brushwood (diam. 0.12m). These were probably originally underlain by transverse elements (Dunne 2002h, 205). Compiled by: Mary Tunney based on data supplied by Jane Whitaker, Archaeological Development Services. Date of upload: 26 August 2011
