What is recorded here
St. Kevin’s Well in County Meath marks the lost church of St. Caomhan Breac, now Diamor. Six steps descend past a young rag tree, planted after the old ash fell in 1971. Water still rises where devotion once gathered, carrying the patience of stones and roots through forgetting.
Situated in a gently undulating landscape. St. Kevin’s Well (ME015-056011-) is across the road to the SW of the site of the early church of St. Caomhan Breac that became the parish church of Diamor (ME015-056001-). Six steps lead down from the road to the well, and there is a young rag tree where the well emerges into a stream. This is a replacement for an old ash tree that fell in 1971 (Moore and Kenny 1976, 33).

Linked to St. Caomhan Breac, the site is associated with early Christian worship in the area, and the nearby holy well suggests a tradition of water-based healing rituals. The tree or bush may have been revered as a sacred focal point, blending Christian and pre-Christian elements of local folklore.
