Built by Myles De Courcey in 1225. It was occupied by the Spaniards before the Battle of Kinsale. The De Courcey family lived here up to the early sixteenth century. The only remains today are the western wall and part of the north wall
Built by Myles De Courcey in 1225, Ringrone Castle was held by the De Courcey family until the early 16th century and is notable for its occupation by the Spaniards prior to the Battle of Kinsale in 1601. Its remains are a reminder of the castle's role in Ireland's medieval and early modern military history.
