What is recorded here
Situated on a fairly level landscape. Systematic archaeological testing (16E0451) by Deirdre Murphy of the large development area within Piercetown explored the larger enclosures (excavations.ie 2016:463). This programme also identified a third enclosure and three other potential, but smaller, archaeological areas. Site 6 is a curvilinear ditch (Wth of top 0.22m) with a fill of grey silty clay that has occasional inclusions of charcoal and animal bone. It curves W-NE (Chord c. 5m plus) and may form a small enclosure or ring-ditch. It will be preserved as a green area. (Murphy 2016, 15)
