What is recorded here
A century after his death, the town gave Fr. Michael Murphy a pedestal because he was a priest, even if his sword work was brief. The statue still points forward on Main Street, frozen in the act of leading men toward guns. Below him, Wolfe Tone and Anthony Perry watch with carved patience, their panels swapped by a builder's mistake that nobody dared correct. They left the error in stone because pulling it free might have broken the men themselves.
