Brendan Howlin

Brendan Howlin is the Wexford politician who led Ireland's Labour Party from 2016 to 2020 after spending decades in its rooms, committees and front benches. He was born in 1956 into a house where his father organized transport workers and his mother understood local Labour politics, so public service entered him young and stayed familiar. Wexford gave him a name, a party and a long career, while he gave the party visibility during a difficult period.
