What is recorded here
Gateway, extant 1913[?], on a symmetrical plan comprising pair of tuck pointed drag edged dragged limestone ashlar piers on "Cyma Recta" or "Cyma Reversa" cushion courses on plinths having urn-topped capping supporting monogram-detailed wrought iron double gates ("HB"). Set in landscaped grounds shared with Westport House.
A gateway featuring the monogram of Henry Ulick Browne (1831-1913), fifth Marquess of Sligo, not only contributing positively to the group and setting values of the Westport House estate, but also illustrating the continued development or "improvement" of the estate in the early twentieth century.
