Piercefield Castle was a substantial seventeenth-century fortified house in County Westmeath, named for Captain Pierce of Tristernagh and later occupied by Andrew Wilson of Shinglis, whose 1724 will still called it Piersfield. A quarry took the southern wall and a sports-field road cut through the middle, yet the earthworks remain legible enough to trace the footprint of this once-prominent Westmeath residence.
