Marianne and the sacred well at Templeshannock

The following description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Carlow' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1993). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 17 July 2007 Circular area (diam. 36m) enclosed by banks and intervening fosse (int. H of inner bank c. 1.5m; ext. H of outer bank 0.7m) now levelled from NE-E-SSW. Entrance gap with causeway at NNW, possibly original.
